BAD NEWS FOR YOU BEARS 12U 2017

Shortly after the end of the Little League season, many of the players from the 2016 12U team moved on to form the nucleus of the 13U team.   But several of the players from the 2016 team, decided to stay as a 12U team and, after tryouts, the original four players joined with 7 additional players from the tryout selection process and formed the 2017 12U team.

The head coach for the team was Bear Suksi, and they began practice immediately. After about a month, the team played their first tournament at Victory Lane in Peoria.  The teams initial two games went very well and they won both and moved into the Saturday game undefeated and in the winner’s bracket.   Unfortunately, they were unable to move past the elimination game on Sunday and lost a hard fought battle to the Anthem Strykers Black.

On Saturday, September 30, the team traveled to Rio Vista Baseball fields in Glendale to play their second tournament.  They played their first game at 2 pm against the Ball Club 12U team.  The game went down to the wire, with the Bears winning on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Anthony M. that sealed the victory.  Both offenses were strong with the Bears collecting 13 hits.  Shane L. led things off pitching for the Bears, and Kaiden, Auron and Carson all had multiple hits in the game.  Caden R. was the winning pitcher.

In the 6 pm game, the Bears took an early lead, but were unable to hold it and ended up losing to the Strykers Gold team  10 to 5.  Kishan started the game for the Bears pitching, and Carson, Anthony and AJ had multiple hits for the Bears.

In the early elimination game on Sunday morning, the Bears took an 8 to 3 win against a good Medrano Baseball club team. After surrendering an early lead, the Bears game back in the thrid inning and scored 3 runs to put the victory away.  Carson F. was the winning pitcher, throwing an excellent game over five innings, allowing just five hits and three runs for the five innings.  He struck out nine.   Kaiden, AJ and Carson all had multiple hits to lead the Bears.

In the late game, the Bears came up against a familiar foe, the Ball Club 12U team.  After falling behind by five runs in the first inning, the Bears fought back, eventually tying the game, but ended up losing 7 to 6 on a late run in the 6th inning by Ball Club 12U.  Anthony M. and Carson F. both had multiple hits for the Bears in a losing cause.
